“The words of the LORD are pure words,
like silver refined in a furnace on the ground,
purified seven times” Psalm 12:6
David wrote this Psalm during King Saul’s reign and he is lamenting that everyone seems to be lying and corrupt.
David was a warrior and a fierce soldier; but we see here that he also had to deal with the battles of gossip and backbiting; of idle and deceptive talkers. David knew what it was like to feel all alone in this kind of battle, where it seemed that no one would speak up and defend him. Instead he took his case to the LORD.
He then makes a plea to God to judge those who are being two-faced and spreading lies and drama. The Psalm ends with a reminder that God hears and protects his children. His truth will reign, and He is keeping us safe.
I don’t know about you but, it’s comforting to me to see a hero of the Bible deal with the same junk we deal with today. When you feel that everyone is against you and others are spreading lies and questioning your character, hold tight to the promise that God is your protector and the truth will always reign. Stay strong and hold onto the truth of God’s character and promises.
