In Psalm 31 the Psalmist sings of both his struggle and his confidence in who God is as his redeemer and protector. There are different theories as to when David wrote this Psalm, but regardless of whether it was during the treachery of the men of Keilah, when Absalom rebelled, or any other time, it is a song of hope and strength during trying times.
What I love about the Psalms is that the emotions and struggles described throughout them are completely real. David doesn’t pretend life is perfect. He authentically shares his struggles, but yet continues to believe wholeheartedly in who God is as our creator, redeemer, protector, and source of hope and joy.
