In Psalm 14 David is lamenting about the corrupt nature of humanity. Humanity revels in our sinful nature and acts as if there is no God and as if we are in control. Yet, God will bring salvation for the righteous.
It does not appear upon what occasion this psalm was penned nor whether upon any particular occasion. Some say David penned it when Saul persecuted him; others, when Absalom rebelled against him. (Matthew Henry)
If you spend any amount of time watching the news or scrolling through your social media feed, then you’re aware of the depravity of our world. It can be overwhelming to see, and if I’m being honest, it sometimes makes me wonder where God is.
I’m sure I am not the only one who has cried out to God, “Where are you in this? Why is this happening?” While most of the time I don’t get a “big picture” answer I often receive a small whisper telling me “I’ve got this… I’ve got you in my hand… Just keep your thoughts on Me…”
“Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
When the LORDÂ restores the fortunes of his people,
let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.”
Psalm 14:7
No matter how dark the world, or your situation, seems to get God is still good and His light continues to shine. We know how this story ends, and it is with God as the Victor. We’re on the winning team so have faith, my friend, and let us rejoice!
