This Psalm reminds me of the book of Job.
Full of depression, heartache, loneliness, and tears.Â
These verses are of a man crying, I imagine weeping on his knees, pouring out his heart to God. He is in trouble, his friends have abandoned him, and it feels like God is not listening.
“For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near to Sheol.” – Psalm 88:3
Have you ever been in that raw emotional place?
I have…
When I was 18, I went on a mission trip to the Philippians and I tell people it was the best and the worst 2 weeks of my life. (up to that point)
I was going through a tremendous personal struggle, 1000’s of miles away from my family, and having to “fake it” while serving the lovely people of Olongapo.
During these 2 weeks, I showered with more tears than water but on the other side of that difficult season, I see God was so near to me. I have the sweetest memories of that trip and it honestly changed my life.

As you read this Psalm today I pray that you understand that God knows our lives have difficult seasons and He can handle it when we cry out. Don’t feel like you have to hide feelings from Him & come “all put together”.
He expects us to be broken, He expects us to have messy parts…
That’s why we need Him!
