In Psalm 54 David opens by pleading to God and then ends with a song of joyful triumph. What David knew is that God is always faithful and he protects his children.
As we’ve been making our way through the Psalms, I’ve noticed that David always turns to the Lord first. Similarly, in Psalm 54, J. Dolben points out that “In the first three verses, David being sought for by his enemies, prays against them. That was his course, he always began his conflict with God, contending and wrestling with him for a blessing and assistance.”
I wonder how our lives would change if, like David, we always began our conflict with God. I would wager a guess that by doing so we would reduce our stress and be more content, peaceful and joyous.
He is for us.
Friends, no matter how hard life may get sometimes let us always remember that God is for us. When we feel pain, God sees us. When we cry out, God hears us. We are not alone, and we would do good to always remember that God is for us.
“Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life.”Psalm 54:4
Remember also to give God thanks and praise, for without him where would any of us be?
“With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you; I will give thanks to your name, O Lord, for it is good. For he has delivered me from every trouble, and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies.”Psalm 54:6-7
