Phase 1
(Week One)

Examine

Define Your Niche

Do you love YOU?:

      Homework:

      • Join the weekly zoom for Phase 1
      • Interact inside the ROOTED Facebook group
      • 2 notes project
          • Make 2 notes for yourself and make sure you put them somewhere you will see them every day this week. I wrote mine on colored index cards and posted them right by my bed.
          • Note #1 - right down something about God that you truly believe and your brain won’t argue with and if possible find a verse that goes with that truth
          • Note #2 - right down something about God that is tough for you to believe and is hard for you to hold onto in your current season. Make sure to write the note in a positive tone. (if you need to work out the negative thoughts surrounding this write those out in a journal)
            • Examples: I am NEVER alone, God loves me for just being ME, I have value in the eyes of God and bring something unique and special to the Kingdom, the Lord is quick to forgive my confessed sins, He will only lead me in spirit and truth, etc...

          .

          • Examples: God is always with me, God is near the brokenhearted, I am never alone, He is my rock and my fortress, I am safe under His branches, etc..

We are going to do some important work in this lesson to begin to define your key marketing messaging. This lesson will help you state clearly who you are, who you serve, what you do, and how you help people get results. You may want to download the Key Marketing Messaging Handout as you go through the videos.

Video 1 (above) - Heaven and Hell exercise: write a day in the life of.... as if you ARE your client. Use their own words. What is it like in HELL for them (before they work with you, when they are really stuck in their problem)? Write it all down. What is it like in HEAVEN for them (after they have worked with you and you have helped them.)  Remember - think in THEIR words, not yours. What do they say to themselves/others? Use absolutely no jargon or no clinician-speak here. Watch the video, and download the Heaven and Hell worksheet below to write this out (or use your own notebook.)

Video 2 - below - Who am I and who do I work with? Answer that question 10 different ways. What you are really doing here is finding the most concise way to describe your niche. "My name is Rebecca, and I am a massage therapist who works with pregnant women and new moms."

Video 3 (below) - What do I do for my clients? Describe it in the terms the CLIENT would use based on what they want, and they KNOW they want it, and what they are looking for. Don't use tech-talk. Keep it super simple, and make another list of results you help them get through the work you do. "I help them (specific result)."

I also explain the 5th Grade Rule in this video - brainstorm the simplest ways to explain what you help people get, in terms so simple a 5th grader could understand.

Video 4 (below): Research your niche! Who out there is doing this niche in the world? What do they offer? How do they describe it? Is anyone doing it locally? Search. Pick up any phrases or verbiage. Don't steal... but just get inspiration here. What are they doing? How can YOU do it better? Who around you (locally) is also serving the niche in a different profession? Are there enough people out there doing this that would indicate you have a market?

      Phase 1
      (Week One)

      Examine

      Define Your Niche

      Do you love YOU?:

This week’s topic is super important and very often misunderstood. It is foundational for you to learn, understand, and live this simple but powerful idea of… Loving Yourself. Take some time to watch the video (maybe even watch it a second time) and then spend this week reflecting on and asking yourself “Do I Love Me”. Once you watch the video you will understand the WHY behind this and know HOW you can learn to love yourself.

        Homework:

        • Join the weekly zoom (on Mondays) for Phase 1: Examine.
        • Interact inside the Rooted Discipleship Bootcamp Facebook group.
        • Follow along with the daily Bible reading. (You can find a link to the checklist at the bottom of the page or inside the Study Nook Insiders Group.)
